This one’s in private beta – but it sounds like a great idea.
Bandmetrics was a semi-finalist at the TechCrunch 50, so that’s a good sign to start with. Sign up on the site – you might get lucky and get to try it out. If you do – be sure and head back this way and let us know if it’s any good.
As far as I can tell…
Bandmetrics uses a range of different information sources to track how well your band is doing on the internet. MySpace listens, friend adds, Last.fm plays (I’m guessing now) – that sort of thing.
Any good? You be the critic… Let’s have your thoughts in the comments.

Huh. I lined this one up to go live on the site a week ago (I’m actually full through the end of November now) – and purely coincidentally, I now have a disclaimer to make.
DISCLAIMER:
Thanks to a link through a mutual friend, I have been asked to join an advisory board at Bandmetrics. I haven’t yet decided, but I’m giving it serious consideration, and making sure it doesn’t conflict with anything else I’ve got going on.
I’ll let you know which way that goes. Probably in a couple of days.
But don’t let that influence your opinions on the site. If you have any knowledge of Bandmetrics, or opinions one way or the other as to whether this would be a valuable service – let’s have your reviews here please.
Usually when a Music 2.0 site like this is in “private beta”, what that seems to mean is “anyone who can send us their email address gets the keys to the front door in under 5 minutes”.
Sadly, that’s not the case with Bandmetrics: I signed up for their private beta a couple of months ago, and have yet to hear anything (was it something I said? ;).
I hope fervently that the actual site lives up to the promise of their splash screen, since a centralized set of “bandmetrics”, with a lower-case b, would be an indispensable tool for indie musicians these days. Topspin is purportedly launching something similar by the end of the year, as are one or two other companies – should be an interesting holiday season!
I signed up a while ago as well and haven’t heard anything, which is a shame!
UPDATE: I won’t be joining Bandmetrics on their advisory board. No reflection on the quality of the service. It just conflicted with some other stuff I was doing.
