well you’re right. if you have no idea about design and no programming skills – better come around with some free template and free plugins!

well i like wordpress, i really do. but as a programmer i prefer do to my own thing. because I know what my code is like and I know how to implement more and more things in it. for me it is easier to understand my own blog and my whole site code than the wordpress code (even if it’s well doc’d ;-) )

well and you have to ask yourself: what kind of blog am I using? Who am I ?

are you giving tipps away? Dont mind, get a template – really saves time!

are you a musician ? well, maybe you let your site designed, might be more interesting (but please think of the usability and dont use too much graphics!)

are you a newsagent ? well there are many templates, which are neutral and which look very formal to me!

so i wanted to say that it is different from category to category

Hi James – I hard-coded that into the template. Feel free to cut and paste the code. It goes toward the bottom of your ‘singlepage.php’ file in the template.

Great list, thank you, and your commenters. And your site looks superb.

I’m a big fan of widgets, since I don’t much like fiddling with code, and like you, am not convinced by this new trend of avatars or whatever we are calling them these days.

Off to install dofollow. Have been thinking about it for a while.
