Excuse the mess

The website, as you may notice, is not looking its usual self. I’ve been talking about a site overhaul for months now, and it’s time I got to work on it.
So this weekend, I’m going to give it a go. I’ve upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress, I have a few ideas about what I’m going to do with the site - and I just kind of liked this template.
So… please excuse the mess and the missing navigation. There’s no easy way to do this without a bit of disruption to normal service.

Andrew - where the heck do you get your great blog themes?! Everytime you restyle one of your sites I look at and go “I wish mine looked like that!”
The new NMS is particularly impressive!

I found a theme I loved just by searching on ‘best free Wordpress Themes’ (or something like that). Then I tweak.
My son Jake has been teaching himself photoshop and has helped me with the banners and buttons, as well as the colour schemes, which we selected from Adobe’s Kuler page.
I’ve also been going in and messing with the code in the templates themselves just to do a bit of trial-and-error finetuning. Mostly error, as it happens.
The main bit of the upgrade is done now on NMS, but there’ll be ongoing tweaks and alterations as we go along - especially in the sidebars. Shouldn’t be too major from this point on - unless I break something.
I always forget how much work is involved in a site upgrade — and I’m doing 6 of my sites all at once.
